The Adventure Begins

I just started the BA(hons) Digital Animation course at Falmouth Univeristy and this is my first blog. By the way, if anyone from my course is reading this, please don't be offended if I can't remember your name, I don't know if I'll have the mental capacity to learn names and Maya.

Animation assignment!

This first assignment was to morph a circle in about 12 frames, pretty straight forward I thought, you can fit quite a lot of movement into 12 frames (although I used 14, but who's counting?).

While we're on the subject of 2d animation, heres one from an animation workshop I attended during my art foundation diploma:

History and Theory!
Ceci n'est pas une pipe.
The first week's History and Theory lecture was about representation and how we process information, which included the difference between an object, a concept and a symbol.
It echoed strongly of things I covered last year in my foundation deploma lectures on post modernism (Thanks Garath and Jenny!).
We also watched some early cartoons like The Skeleton Dance and Felix the Cat.
It was awesome.

My old friend the Sketchbook!

Sketchbook project issued this week is observational sketches of people, (Score! My favourite kind of drawing!) but I have to replace their heads with animal heads. I wonder how I'll get on with this one, should be fine... yeah, probably.

It just occured to me that I am no longer an art student, I'm a media student! Oh well, another day, another label... Down with The Man! Just kidding, you're a pretty cool guy.
